Craig Steely's Lavaflow 2 House
Here's yet another of my favorite homes - architect Craig Steely's "Lavaflow 2". This house is bright, breezy and casual. A modern design, but not at all cold or museum-like. A home, not a sculpture. I love it's modest size (1400 sq-ft) and simple but livable plan. It also incorporates great outdoor living space. Living on a lava flow in Hawaii in sight of the ocean isn't too bad either - a great site helps a lot!
The Lavaflow 2 house was featured in Dwell in the July/Aug 2005 issue. I first saw it in a great book called 150 Best House Ideas by Ana G. Canizares (Collins Design, NY, 2005) - a wonderful work with over five hundred full-color pages of amazing modern homes.
