Alchemy Architects Prefab "weeHouses"
You know, there are some houses that just make you feel good when you see them. I always see fun in the "weeHouse" designs from Alchemy Architects. I can't believe I haven't done a post on them before. Their houses have such a cool vibe. I was checking their site again this morning and saw a couple of really nice new models since the last time I looked in on them. Check these out - a pair of 2200 sq-ft, 3-bedroom houses, suitable for families:

The first weeHouse was a small cabin. Since then, Alchemy has been doing more and more larger homes (called "Not-So Wee Houses") aimed at family living. Even though they're larger, the not-so weeHouses show respectful self-restraint. These are not McMansions.
Alchemy uses its shippable prefab boxes to build a home in much the way you see a lot of container home builders stacking and skewing units to make interesting designs. Take a look at this great-looking "Not-so weeHouse" and you will instantly see what I mean. Fabulous!
Alchemy gives their weeHouses beautifully clean and elegant interior finishes. You can choose from some great options like bamboo flooring, gorgeous Henrybuilt kitchen cabinetry, efficient LG appliances, and even tankless water heaters. Here's a couple of examples of the beautiful interiors in some completed weeHouses:

The Alchemy site has tons of pics of their many great homes (as well as some other interesting projects). They also have a weeHouse info page with several very informative downloadable .pdf brochures. There's a ton of good info, so if you're interested in these homes definitely take a look - you'll get a lot of great information. One thing I noted in their FAQ is that Alchemy is looking to include more low-VOC materials in weeHouse construction, and most importantly, is willing to work with any client to incorporate green construction techniques in their house.
Besides being in love with their style, I'm pretty excited about weeHouses because, for one thing, they're definitely available in Michigan, where I live. Maybe I can be the first in my state to have a weeHouse!
