ARK-OLOGY Builds Real Homes for Real People with Real Budgets
I love it when I learn a new word.
"ARK-OLOGY (ark’o-logy)(-k-), n. the blending of architecture and ecology into a holistic approach to design and building for a better life for everyone."
I don't think I could be happier with that one. My favorite new word also happens to be the name of architect Joe Prudden's firm, one with a focus on better family homes that live lightly on Earth. Hmm, how interesting ...
In fact, ARK-OLOGY's design philosophy has four elements: family, sustainability, environment and commitment. I like those a lot. These fundamentals really show in the firm's work. Take a look at some of the beautiful houses Prudden has done:

These houses all feature passive solar design and excellent use of roof overhangs and outdoor living spaces. It all adds up to natural heating and cooling that is as easy on the environment as it is on your wallet. The three homes above are also modestly sized (1,800 to 2,500 sq-ft) in keeping with ARK-OLOGY's goal of building "real homes for real people with real budgets."
Isn't it great to see yet another fine example of architects doing great work in the area of green design for family homes? It is indeed.
