Rammed Earth is for Everyone!
If you're into rammed earth building, don't miss this blog: Rammed Earth is for Everyone. You can't beat the enthusiasm of that name! The site highlights rammed earth projects all around the world, offers nice Youtube and Flickr finds, and has a great selection of links in its sidebar. It's proprietor is a rammed earth consultant who shares both interesting technical information as well as an intriguing and thought provoking world view. Definitely worth a look if you're an earth building enthusiast and/or you find yourself pondering the nature of man's impact on the Earth on a regular basis.
Via Earth Architecture (of course!).

Hello John,
Great site and thanks for the link.
I'm not kidding when I say Rammed Earth is for Everyone.
You could design and build your own rammed earth house right there in Michigan.

I did it, you can do it.
keep up the good work,

Hello, i've been told rammed earth is not a good idea in michigan because of the rough weather (lots of rain, extreme temperature changes; 90+ degrees in summer, below zero in winter). I've also heard its not that a great of an insulator to meet the standards of passive heating.
I'm interested in building a straw bale/rammed earth home in detroit and i want to try and do it for as free as possible, as an example of possible low income housing.
It would be great if you knew something i didn't and you could reassure me of rammed earth in michigan, as it otherwise seems ideal. feel free to email me: brickandmoss@gmail.com
