There are so many great places to see and things to do in and around Brisbane. And while the city does have a number of sights you must check out, you don’t want to miss out on some of the wonderful places to explore just a short distance away. If you want to take a mini road trip and explore some of the outer areas and sights, then we’ve got a great list of day-trip ideas perfect for the whole family.
The Theme Parks
Taking the kids to one of the theme parks on the Gold Coast for the day is a great way to spend some time during your holiday. If you are staying in centrally located Brisbane apartments then you may even be able to get a shuttle service from where you are staying. From Sea World to Movie World, Dream World and Wet ’n’ Wild, there’s something for the little ones and activities to keep the teenagers interested too. If you are staying in Brisbane for a week or so and are thinking about visiting several of the theme parks, it’s a good idea to look into the passes available for savings on entry fees.
Byron Bay
If you are staying in Brisbane and want to go for a day trip, don’t miss Byron Bay. You can spend time at the beach before checking out the cultural sights, visiting the markets and taking in all of the quirky characters that make Byron so unique. For something a little extra special, take a trip to the Crystal Castle. It’s an amazing place set on a large property full of gardens with ponds, statues and crystals from all over the world. There’s plenty to see and do here.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary
There is so much to do at the Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. You can visit the Wildlife Hospital Precinct, take on the 65-challenges high-ropes course and the kids will love the outdoor adventure playground. This is certainly a place the whole family will enjoy; animal lovers can feed the kangaroos, have a cuddle with a koala and watch the free-flight bird show, while those a little more curious can enjoy the interactive science activity zone.
It doesn’t matter if you are staying in the most luxurious apartments Brisbane has to offer in the heart of the city, or you are bunking in accommodation a little out of the city centre, taking a day trip outside of Brisbane is a great way to spend some of your trip. There are so many different places to visit, no matter what type of traveller you are.
