The first date is fundamental to developing and ongoing and lasting relationship with someone.  It’s the subject (or plays a part) in virtually every Hollywood love story, and topic of discussion around coffee tables for women around the world.  As a result of this, it can be hard to ensure first dates live up to the expectations set by society, however with a few things to show you care, you can ensure your date is impressed, and lay the foundation for a fantastic relationship.

Buy Her Flowers

Yes it is oldest trick in the playbook, however, always seems to work.  What is even more impressive however is if you buy them whilst on the date.  Impromptu flowers demonstrate you will think about her for years to come, and as they are largely unexpected, tend to get a fantastic response.  It does take a little bit of planning, to ensure the date you are on involves passes by a flower store, however with just a little bit of planning, it shouldn’t be too difficult.

Take Her Somewhere Traditional

Once again, it may seem obvious; however the intricacies of where you take your date are fundamentally important.  Whilst a classy restaurant seem to be the mainstay of locations for most dates, somewhere traditional is far more effective at creating a romantic atmosphere.  It could be a restaurant set on an old pier, and old fashion cocktail bar or one of the many small bars out there which aim to create a rustic and renaissance feel.  The reason this is so effective is that many people feel that chivalry and old fashion romance are no longer prevalent in society.  By taking your date to an old fashioned, traditional location, this creates an excellent atmosphere for great conversation, and good times.

Don’t Talk About Money

So often, the topic of money is raised by men on a first date, as a means of impressing a woman.  Whilst some women may very well be impressed by the size of your wallet, this is best left implied, rather than explicitly said.  What is far more important to communicate is ambition and the fact you are hardworking, which, most women find extremely attractive.

Ask Questions About Your Date

Demonstrating you are extremely interested and fascinated by your date is the most important part of ensuring a first date goes well.  So many men feel that talking about themselves, in order to impress a woman is the effective.  This is far from the case.  Take the time to enquire about your date’s family, friends, work and even attitude to life.  Such topics are a fantastic way to get to know your date, and demonstrate you are communicative, and no self-centred.

Walk Them to the Door

Once again, very old fashioned but equally as important to the success of a first date as all of the above.  As every Hollywood movie will tell you, this is where a first kiss might ensue.  The question most men at this point ask is, “should I or shouldn’t I.”  It is safe to say however, if you have followed the above advice, the answer will be clear.
